Four area girls’ basketball teams being regionals Monday (with photos)

Four Eastern Upper Peninsula girls’ high school basketball teams will begin their regional semifinals on Monday night.

The Rudyard Bulldogs (10-5) will face the Cedarville Trojans (11-2) in a Division 4, Region 26 semifinal at Sault Ste. Marie, on Monday at 7:00 pm. You can hear that game on Country 105, with Scott Nason, starting with the pregame show at 6:45 pm. The winner of that game will face the winner of the other semifinal between Mackinaw City (17-2) and Posen (15-1) on Wednesday in Wolverine at 7:00 pm.

The Sault High Blue Devils (14-1) have a rematch with Escanaba (12-4) in their Division 2, Region 9 semifinal on Monday in Manistique, at 7:00 pm. You can hear that game on 1230 WSOO, with Dave Watson and Ray Bell, starting with the tip-off show at 6:45 pm. The winner of that game will face the winner of the other semifinal between Ludington (13-4) and Standish-Sterling (16-4) on Wednesday in Houghton Lake at 7:00 pm.

St. Ignace (13-4) will host a semifinal on Monday at 7:00 pm, in Division 3, Region 17, as they will face Alcona (12-4). The winner of that game will face the winner of the other semifinal between Menominee (13-0) and Calumet (17-0) on Wednesday in Sault Ste. Marie at 7:00 pm.

The Rudyard Bulldogs (15-2) boys’ high school basketball team will host a Division 4, Region 26 semifinal game on Tuesday at 7:00 pm, as they face Mackinaw City (14-4). The Comets edged out Pickford on Saturday, 42-41 to claim a district title at the Purple Palace. You can hear Tuesday’s game on Country 105, with Scott Nason and Ray Bell, starting with the pregame show at 7:00 pm. The winner of that game will face the winner of the other semifinal between Onaway (13-3) and Alanson (13-7) on Thursday in Pellston at 7:00 pm.
