Suspect Arrested Following Stabbing in Marquette County

Marquette County, Michigan. A suspect has been arrested following a stabbing in Marquette County. The victim, who suffered serious injuries, is reported to be in stable condition at a local hospital.

On October 2, 2026, at approximately 9:56 p.m., troopers from the Michigan State Police (MSP) Negaunee Post, along with additional assisting law enforcement agencies, responded to a residence in Chocolay Township.

A 36-year-old male allegedly stabbed a 32-year-old male with a knife during an altercation. The suspect also allegedly assaulted a juvenile prior to the stabbing. The stabbing victim sustained serious injuries and was transported by EMS to a local hospital. The juvenile who was assaulted reportedly suffered minor injuries.

The suspect was lodged in the Marquette County Jail. The suspect’s name is not being released at this time, pending arraignment. The investigation is ongoing. The suspect is considered innocent unless proven guilty. Further updates will be issued when available.

MSP was assisted by multiple agencies, including Keweenaw Bay Indian Community Tribal Police, Marquette Police Department, Marquette County Sheriff’s Office, ChocolayTownship Police Department, and Marquette County Central Dispatch.
