Man charged after stealing front end loader

GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY, MI. Justin Greenwood, 28, of Copemish, was arrested after he allegedly stole a front-end loader from a construction site in Interlochen.

The preliminary investigation indicated that a front-end loader was stolen in the early morning hours of September 29, 2026 from a construction site on Lyon Road in Interlochen. It was determined that it was equipped with a GPS tracker, which allowed motor carrier officers and troopers from the Michigan State Police Traverse City Post to locate it approximately 17 miles away in Manistee County, backed into a wooded area and concealed by trees.

MSP personnel followed a set of footprints from the scene to a seasonal home. They observed that a
garage on the property appeared to have been struck by industrial equipment, causing severe damage.
Troopers also discovered a broken window. After making entry into the home, they found Greenwood
asleep on a couch. He was arrested without incident and lodged at the Grand Traverse County Jail.

Greenwood was arraigned on October 1 in the 86 th District Court in Grand Traverse County on the
following charges:

✔️ Larceny ($20,000 or more)
✔️ Malicious destruction of personal property ($20,000 or more)
✔️ Unlawful driving away of an automobile.

Greenwood was given a $25,000 cash or surety bond.

This case remains ongoing. Because Greenwood traveled through several counties, additional charges
may be authorized following prosecutor review.
