Suggitt pours in 26 as Bulldogs improve to 5-0

E.J. Suggitt scored 26 points on Friday night, as the Rudyard Bulldogs boys varsity basketball team improved to 5-0 on the season, knocking off Sault High for the second time in two weeks, 60-51, in Straits Area Conference play at the Harris Kahl Gymnasium. Rudyard will host Manistique on Saturday while the Sault (1-4) is at home to Alpena. You can hear that game on 1230 WSOO with Scott Nason and Ray Bell, starting with the pregame show around 2:45 p.m.

In other boys’ basketball from Friday night, Brimley earned their first win of the season, as they defeated Pickford, 54-44 in an Eastern Upper Peninsula Conference game at the Karl Parker Gymnasium. Brimley (1-2) is at Newberry on Monday, while Pickford (1-3) is at Alanson on Monday. St. Ignace improved to 3-2 on the season as they earned an 82-55 win at home over DeTour. St. Ignace will host Rudyard on Monday night. DeTour (1-3) is at Engadine on Wednesday. Cheboygan improved to 4-0 in the Straits Area Conference, as they knocked off Newberry on the road, 55-49. Newberry (1-4) is home to Brimley on Monday.

Girls’ basketball on Saturday sees Marquette at St. Ignace and Pickford traveling to Gaylord.

Sault High (1-1) is at Big Rapids on Saturday in high school hockey.
