The Sault High Blue Devil girls’ basketball team keeps on rolling, as they improved to 6-0 on the season and 5-0 in Straits Area Conference play, as they topped Newberry, 61-16, Monday night at the Sault High Gymnasium. The Blue Devils will host Escanaba on Thursday, in a rematch of their regional semifinal from last season, which was won by the Sault. You can hear that game on 1230 WSOO, with Dave Watson and Ray Bell, staring with the pregame show at 7:00 p.m. Newberry (1-6) will host Brimley on Tuesday night. Pickford bounced back from their first loss of the season over the weekend, as they knocked off Bellaire, 56-44, in girls’ basketball Monday night from the Purple Palace. Pickford (4-1) will be at Rudyard on Thursday. You can hear that game on Country 105, in the EUP Game of the Week, with Matt Pocket.
Tuesday night girls’ basketball sees Brimley at Newberry, DeTour at Mackinaw City, Rudyard at Engadine and Rogers City at St. Ignace.
In boys’ basketball from Monday night, Newberry edged out Brimley at home, 55-54, in Eastern Upper Peninsula Conference action. Newberry (2-4) will host Sault High on Friday. You can hear that game on 1230 WSOO, with Casey Cook, starting with the pregame show at 7:00 p.m. Brimley (1-3) hosts Harbor Light Christian on Tuesday night.
Cedarville improved to 3-2 on the season in boys’ basketball, as they defeated Mackinaw City on the road, 57-43. The Trojans will be at Engadine on Friday. Pickford fell to Alanson on Monday night, 63-56. Pickford (1-4) will host Rudyard on Friday.
