Eunice Ruth Kinnear, age 84, of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, died on October 7, 2026, at McLaren Northern Michigan in Petoskey, Michigan. She was born on February 8, 1942, in Newberry, Michigan, to Harry John and Ruth Genevieve (Oberle) Brown.

Eunice grew up in Newberry on Maple Hill and graduated from Newberry High School with the class of 1960. She married her high school sweetheart, Bert Kinnear, on August 13, 1960, in Newberry. Together, they built a life in Sault Ste. Marie and raised their five wonderful children.

Eunice was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church, where she enjoyed serving on the Fellowship Committee. She carried fond memories of growing up on Maple Hill, working the Paul Bunyon, times spent supporting her husband and children’s scouting activities, and the many outings with the Trout Lake crew.

In her free time, Eunice enjoyed tending to her flower gardens and blackberry patch, working on puzzles, and watching game shows, especially Wheel of Fortune. She also loved birdwatching, baking Christmas cookies, and preparing homemade favorites for her family, including spaghetti and meatballs, sweet rolls, and fresh bread. These simple pleasures reflected her love of home, family, and the traditions that made life special.

Eunice is survived by her children, Bert (Kim) Kinnear III, Rodney (Shannon) Kinnear, Kenneth (Marianne) Kinnear, Terri (Darryl) East, and Daniel (Michelle) Kinnear, all of Sault Ste. Marie; grandchildren, Louie (Holly), Rachael (Chad), Rodney (Heather), Nicholas, Danielle, Jenna (Roger), Krysta, Michael, Addison (Aryton), Daniel, Dillon (Hailey), Genevieve, Kallin, Kammie, Joshua, Kenneth, April, Cassidy, and Chase; great-grandchildren, Brayle, Olivia, Arya, Dylan, Easton, Bauer, Kadence, Adelle, Remington, Elijah, Samual, Ace, Payton, Alara, Kendra, Avery, and Adrianne; nieces and nephews, Randy Brown, Greg Brown, Jeffery Brown, Mike Kinnear, Rick (Shelley) Kinnear, Heidi Kinnear, Kirk Kinnear, and Kim Kinnear; and sisters-in-law, Karen Brown and Renate Kinnear both of Sault Ste Marie.

Eunice is preceded in death by her husband, Bert; parents, Harry and Ruth Brown; brothers, Douglas Brown and Donald Brown; parents-in-law, Bert and Opal Kinnear; brothers-in-law, Wayne Kinnear and Theodore Kinnear; nephews, Raymond Brown and Kevin Kinnear.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 Noon at Faith Lutheran Church, 1600 Park St. Sault Ste. Marie, MI 49783. The Funeral Service will follow at 12:00 Noon.

Eunice’s final resting place will be at Oaklawn Chapel Gardens in Bruce Township, Michigan.
