Alan Virgil Boike, age 71, of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, died on October 3, 2026, at MyMichigan Medical Center in Sault Ste. Marie. He was born on August 23, 1955, in Chicago, Illinois to Joseph and Irene (Tiedel) Boike.

Alan grew up in Chicago before moving to Cedarville, Michigan, in the 1960’s. He graduated from Les Cheneaux Community Schools and attended Lake Superior State University. Alan served as the Township Supervisor for Clark Township before returning to college to complete his bachelor’s degree.

Throughout his career, Alan held a variety of positions and enjoyed learning new things and staying involved in his community. He worked as the Director of Adult Foster Homes in Sault Ste. Marie, drove trucks, served as an assessor for Clark Township, sold real estate, and served as a supervisor for Clark Township.

Alan had many interests and hobbies that brought him joy throughout his life. He enjoyed making knives, listening to classic ’70s music and old folk music, and playing the drums. He loved tinkering on cars and attending car shows. Alan was also a fan of horror movies and books.

Alan is survived by his son, Adam (Mary) Boike of Kinross, Michigan; beloved grandchildren, Milo, Parker, and Charlotte; siblings, Florence Kolb and Paul Boike; girlfriend, Maria Cynthia Sison; and former wife, Kathy Flagel, with whom he shared a son and a lasting family connection.

He is also survived by Christopher (Victoria) Caskey, a close family friend whom Alan loved and regarded as a second son. Their bond extended far beyond friendship, and Christopher held a special place in Alan’s heart.

Alan was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Irene; sisters, Leora (Donald “Sonny”) Thon and Marlene (Bill) Tolliver; and brother-in-law, George Kolb.

A Memorial Mass will be held on October 22, 2026, at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 606 E. 4th Ave., Sault Ste. Marie, MI 49783.
