Over the past year and a half, detectives from the Upper Peninsula Substance
Enforcement Team (UPSET) have been investigating a 34-year-old Escanaba man for
distributing cocaine. The Delta County Prosecutor’s Office recently authorized a three-
count felony warrant. Contact was made with the suspect at his residence where he was
arrested without incident. The suspect was lodged at the Delta County Jail on a variety of
drug charges.
Further investigation resulted in the seizure of over two pounds of cocaine (just under a
kilogram), a small amount of ketamine, and over $24,000 cash. The cocaine was located
at a separate property in the City of Gladstone and has a street value of approximately
$55,000. The investigation is ongoing and the case is being reviewed by the Delta County
Prosecutor’s Office for possible additional charges. The subject is considered innocent
unless proven guilty.
UPSET was assisted by the DEA, Escanaba Public Safety – K9, Delta County Sheriff
Department, MSP Gladstone Post, Gladstone Public Safety, MDOC probation / parole,
