CCHD to Hold Annual Fall Drive-Thru Vaccine Clinic

Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan – Chippewa County Health Department (CCHD) will be providing
both seasonal flu and COVID-19 vaccines on Lake Superior State University’s campus in Sault
Ste Marie on Friday, September 26 th . The drive-through vaccine clinic will operate from 10am to
2pm in the parking lot at the Norris Center, 1000 Meridian Street.

Seasonal flu vaccine is available for anyone 18 years of age or older. The COVID-19 vaccine is
available for anyone 65 years of age or older, and individuals 18 years of age and older who
have an underlying condition that puts them at increased risk for COVID-19. Medicare,
Medicaid, and most private insurances will be billed to cover the cost of vaccination for both flu
and COVID vaccines. CCHD asks everyone attending to bring a state issued ID, and their
insurance information.

“I encourage everyone who is eligible for the vaccine to get them. Flu and COVID vaccines
greatly lower risk of serious illness and are safe” stated CCHD Medical Director, Catherine
Wilkerson, MD.

Appointments are not necessary for the drive-through clinic. Anyone attending only needs to
follow the signs directing traffic and individuals are vaccinated without even getting out of the
car. Walk-ups are welcome; there will be designated location for individuals who are getting
vaccines outside a vehicle. For the safety of CCHD staff, participants are asked to please leave
their pets at home.
