Eagles slip by the Rock

TIMMINS, ON – Anthony Zolezzi made 30 saves to lead the visiting Soo Eagles to a 2-1 win over the Timmins Rock at the McIntyre Arena on Saturday night.

Zolezzi made 29 saves for this second victory in as many days as he guided the Eagles to a 4-3 shootout win Friday night over the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners.

After a scoreless first, the Eagles got on the board midway through the second when Benjamin Pouliot put home a power play marker by Rock starter Dryden Riley for a 1-0 lead.

Less than five minutes later, Zach Sweitzer gave the visitors a 2-0 lead as he put home his 12th of the campaign.

Two minutes after that, the Rock’s dangerous Harry Clark netted his 31st on a power play to make it 2-1.

With that key road win, the Soo Eagles improve to 27-16-1-2 while the Rock
fall to 33-12-2-0.
