Soo Eagles’ Kenny Belanger named one of NOJHL Stars of the Week

SUDBURY, Ont. – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL) announced Monday that the forward trio of Kenny Belanger Jr. (Soo Eagles); Harry Clark (Timmins Rock) and Owen Fergusson (Espanola Paper Kings) have been named its Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the Week for the period ending November 5.

KENNY BELANGER JR., (F) SOO EAGLES: The Eagles captain led his club to a trio of road victories over the weekend, that featured him collecting tallies in each match-up.

The 19-year-old Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., product opened with a goal and an assist in Kirkland Lake Friday, notched a pair of markers, including the game-winner at Powassan Saturday, then finished up by scoring once, and dishing out three helpers in a narrow triumph at French River Sunday.

With points in three straight, as well as in six of his past seven outings, Belanger Jr., has raised his season total to 25 in 20 games played, to sit third overall on the Eagles in offensive production.

HARRY CLARK, (F) TIMMINS ROCK: The 20-year-old Timmins native has had a stellar campaign for his hometown Rock, including registering eight points in a triple triumph week.

Clark began with a goal and two assists in a victory at Iroquois Falls Thursday, then tallied twice, including notching the decider in overtime, and set-up a marker in Kirkland Lake Saturday before doling out a couple of helpers, featuring one on the eventual deciding marker at home Sunday, versus Greater Sudbury.

Currently riding a current NOJHL-best 12-game point streak, the veteran forward sits third in league scoring, averaging two points-per-game, with 42 after 21 games played.

OWEN FERGUSSON, (F) ESPANOLA PAPER KINGS: A seven-point run during the time frame helped Espanola continue their winning ways, as the Paper Kings skated to a pair of home ice wins.

The 18-year-old from Bancroft, Ont., put two in the back of the net, while dishing out five assists, including being in on both game-winners, in victories over Powassan and French River.

With 12 multi-point performances so far this season, of which Espanola has won on each occasion, Fergusson has moved up into a tie for fourth in NOJHL scoring with 39 points through 21 outings.
