Mary Eileen Clement

Mary Eileen Clement, age 84, of Kincheloe, Michigan, died unexpectedly on April 8, 2022, in St. Ignace, Michigan. She was born on April 28, 1937, to Edwin Peter and Virginia Alice (Vincent) Sherman.

Mary grew up in Trout Lake and in Pickford, Michigan, and graduated from Pickford High Schools in 1956. While she was visiting a loved one in the hospital she met the maintenance mans’ son, Wesley Paul Caldwell. They married on July 7, 1956 and began their family. They raised six children and most of their children’s friends too. While all the children were growing, she helped out at their schools and faithfully attended The Church of the Nazarene. After Wesley’s death in November 1996, she met Joseph Clement and they married May 2001.

For many years Mary was a very active member in The Church of the Nazarene. Serving with her husband Wesley wherever they were needed.

Mary loved reading, canning, and gardening. She was a very good cook and baker. She even made and decorated many cakes for all occasions. She also enjoyed sewing and making alterations. She loved to “go for a ride” and reminisce sharing her life and history. Most of all she liked to spend time with her grandchildren and family.

Mary is survived by her daughters, Judith Caldwell of Kincheloe, Ruth Caldwell of Flint, Janice Harkless of Kincheloe; son Rev. Paul (Kathy) Caldwell of Burlington, Wisconsin; daughters-in-law, Becky Caldwell of Alpena, Michigan, and Raeann Caldwell of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan; grandchildren, Michael Caldwell, Elisabeth Ortega, Michelle (James) Salmon, Rachel (Ed) Martin, Amanda (Dave) Stutzman, Ashley (Nate Timmerman) Caldwell, Nancy (Robert) Mitchell, Sarah Caldwell, Patty Caldwell, Curtis Caldwell, Jacob Caldwell, Stuart Caldwell, Christina Caldwell, William (Jolene Goldberg) Caldwell, Eileen Harkless, Wesley Harkless, Kendra Zinn, Joey Quinn; and many great-grandchildren; sisters, Carolyn (Bill) Miller of Sault Ste. Marie, and Alice (Milt) Cox of Illinois; brother, Edwin, (Ethel) Sherman of Sault Ste. Marie; and several nieces and nephews.

Mary is preceded in death by her first husband, Wesley Paul Caldwell; second husband, Joe Clement; sons, Rev. Allen Caldwell and William Caldwell; son, Terry Clement; brother, Henry Sherman; sisters-in-law, Marge Sherman and Elva Arnill.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, from 11:00 AM till 1:00 PM at Galer Funeral Homes & Cremation in Pickford, MI. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM.

Burial will be at Donaldson Cemetery, in Bruce Township, Michigan.
