SUDBURY, Ont. – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL) announced Monday that goaltender Dalton Hoornstra (Soo Eagles); forward Felix Sapay (Soo Thunderbirds) and forward Kieran Prichett (Elliot Lake Vikings) have been named its Rogers 3 Stars of the Week, for the period ending September 13.
Dalton Hoornstra, (G) Soo Eagles – Unbeatable in his first start of the season, Hoornstra posted the initial NOJHL shutout of the campaign, which came Friday night against Espanola.
The 18-year-old netminder from Brimley, Mich., turned aside all 39 shots put his way on the road in blanking the Paper Kings 1-0 at the Regional Recreation Complex.
After playing his U18 AAA hockey previously in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., Hoornstra has now begun his second year with the Eagles. Also, dating back to last season, he sports a record of 6-3-1 in his past 10 starts.
Felix Sapay, (F) Soo Thunderbirds – Sapay made a positive impact in his league debut over the weekend, helping the Thunderbirds sweep a two-game set at the Hearst Lumberjacks.
In those outings, the 16-year-old winger from Dryden, Ont., collected a NOJHL-high four points, on his opening league tally, to go with three assists for the T-Birds, in their pair of away triumphs.
Sapay makes the move to the Jr. A ranks after being a member of the Sudbury Wolves U16 AAA squad in 2025-26 where he went on to be a 12th round selection of the Niagara Ice Dogs in the OHL Priority Selection.
Kieran Prichett, (F) Elliot Lake Vikings – A stellar entrance to the NOJHL saw him score the Vikings first goal in league play since back in mid-December of 2024.
In fact, the 19-year-old from Nepean, Ont., notched all three Elliot Lake markers Saturday, registering a first period natural hat trick, in a span of just over five minutes, helping his side collect a point in an eventual shootout setback at Blind River.
Skating previously in Hockey Eastern Ontario during his minor hockey days, he played with such teams as the Upper Canada Cyclones; Hawkesbury Hawks and Nepean Raiders in his U18 and U16 years.
