The Rudyard Bulldogs boys’ basketball team improved to 4-0 on the season on Wednesday night in DeTour, as they defeated the Raiders, 68-54. Rudyard, now 3-0 in the Eastern Upper Peninsula Conference, will return to Straits Area Conference play on Friday night as they host Sault High. You can hear that game on 1230 WSOO, with Scott Nason, starting with the pregame show at 7:00 p.m. DeTour (1-2) is at St. Ignace tonight.
In other boys’ basketball from Wednesday night, the Sault High Blue Devils fell at Escanaba, 74-33. The Sault (1-3) will be at Rudyard on Friday and Saturday afternoon at home against Alpena. You can hear both those games on 1230 WSOO with Scott Nason. Cedarville fell at home to Hillman, 72-35. Cedarville (2-2) will host Mackinaw City on Monday.
In girls’ basketball tonight, Sault High (4-0) will host Rudyard (2-2). You can hear that game on 1230 WSOO with Dave Watson and Ray Bell, starting with the pregame show at 7:00 p.m. Brimley (0-1) will travel to Pickford (2-0). You can hear that game on the EUP Game of the Week, with Matt Pocket on Country 105, starting with the pregame show around 7:00 p.m. Engadine (1-2) is at DeTour (0-2), Cedarville (2-1) hosts Hillman (2-1) and Newberry (1-4) is at Cheboygan (2-2) in other area games Thursday night.
High School hockey from Wednesday night, Sault High fell at Escanaba, 5-4. Nick Gerry scored two goals for the Blue Devils, while Jack Swan and Nick Cicco had the other goals. Sault High (1-2) is at Big Rapids (1-2) Saturday afternoon.
