She then began her career with the State of Michigan at the Highway Travel Information Center. She initially worked part-time before becoming the full-time manager, a position she held for many years until her retirement in 2006. Through her work, Anna made many lasting friendships and touched the lives of countless people.

Anna was a longtime member of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church. She was also a devoted supporter of the Shrine of St. Jude and the Chippewa County Animal Shelter, causes that were close to her heart.

Anna had a special love for animals and enjoyed feeding the birds and squirrels. She also cherished the time she spent with her own beloved fur babies. Above all, Anna treasured her family and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Whether they were shopping together or enjoying time at the fish pond, these moments brought her great joy.

Anna is survived by her children, Debbie Leigh and Joseph (Rhonda) Cottelit, both of Sault Ste. Marie; grandchildren, James (Shayla) Leigh, Tim (Jen) Leigh, and Janae (Kody) Gough; great grandchildren, Dylan Leigh, and Saylor Gough; sister-in-law, Claudia Jacques; and many nieces and nephews.

Anna is preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Mary; and siblings, Constance “Connie” (Donald) Henderson, Henry Jacques, and David Jacques.

Anna will be dearly missed by all who knew her, even the squirrels and birds.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 9, 2026, from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM, at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 1101 Minneapolis St., Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan 49783. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 AM.

Anna’s final resting place will be at Oaklawn Chapel Gardens in Bruce Township, Michigan.
