Delta County, Michigan. A woman from the Cornell area has been arrested and arraigned on
multiple felony counts related to resisting, obstructing, and assaulting a police officer.
On February 3, 2026, the Michigan State Police (MSP) Gladstone Post received a report of
alleged animal neglect involving multiple individuals. Following an initial investigation, troopers
obtained a search warrant for a location on County Road 426 in Cornell Township.
On February 4, 2026, troopers executed the search warrant at the property. Several deceased
animals including cats, rabbits, pigs, and goats, were found on site. Additionally, live animals in
malnourished and unhealthy conditions, including 14 cats, 12 rabbits, and one sheep, were
seized and removed from the property.
During the investigation, a woman at the scene began resisting and obstructing troopers and
refused to follow lawful orders. The woman then bit one of the troopers on the wrist. After being
informed she was under arrest, she continued to fight and attempted to bite another trooper.
She was safely taken into custody and lodged in the Delta County Jail.
On February 5, 2026, 22-year-old Brianna Makosky was arraigned in the 94 th District Court on
three felony counts of resist/obstruct/assault a police officer. Her bond was set at $4,000.00
cash/surety and she is next due in court on February 19, 2026. The defendant is considered
innocent unless proven guilty.
The animal neglect investigation remains ongoing and will be submitted to the Delta County
Prosecutor for review once complete. MSP was assisted by the Delta Animal Shelter.
Update: August 6, 2026
This update provides additional information about the alleged animal abuse/neglect
investigation that began on February 3.
The Delta County Prosecutor’s Office charged Brianna Makoskey, 23; Kruzz Makoskey, 22; and
Nichole Jarvey, 45, all of Cornell, with one felony count of Abandoning/Cruelty 25 or more
