Soo Co-op Credit Union (SCCU) is proud to announce the recipients of its 2026 Nick Gerrish Scholarships, awarding four scholarships to outstanding student member-owners as they pursue their higher education goals.
For 40 years, the Nick Gerrish Scholarship Program has helped SCCU member-owners further their education by providing financial assistance to students demonstrating academic achievement, leadership, and community involvement. As part of the application process, applicants submitted an essay outlining their future career goals and explaining how the scholarship would help them achieve those aspirations.
“We are honored to support these exceptional students as they pursue their educational dreams,” said Lynda Ellis, President and CEO of Soo Co-op Credit Union. “Each recipient has demonstrated a strong commitment to their future, and we are proud to invest in their continued success.”
The recipients of the 2026 Nick Gerrish Scholarships are:
- Drake Stec – $2,500
- Ashley Dzelak – $2,500
- Granger Desormeau – $2,500
The Bay Mills Community College Scholarship, awarded annually to an SCCU member-owner attending Bay Mills Community College, was presented to:
- Jessie Maeder – $1,500
Since its inception in 1986, the Nick Gerrish Scholarship Program has awarded more than $289,000 in scholarships to Soo Co-op Credit Union member-owners, helping students achieve their educational and career goals.
