GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY, MI. On May 12 at approximately 5:07 p.m., troopers from the Michigan
State Police (MSP) Traverse City Post responded to a three-vehicle crash on M-37 near M-113 in
Mayfield Township.
The preliminary investigation indicates that a Chevrolet Impala with two occupants was traveling east on
Miller Road and attempted to cross M-37 to reach M-113. While crossing M-37, the Impala was struck by
a northbound pickup truck. After the initial collision, both vehicles were pushed into a third vehicle, a Jeep that was stationary on M-113.
The Jeep was driven by a 33-year-old woman from Traverse City. Her vehicle sustained minor damage,
and no injuries were reported.
The driver of the Impala, a 44-year-old man from Cadillac, was transported to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The passenger, a 22-year-old man from Manton, was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the pickup truck, a 59-year-old man from Traverse City, was also transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Troopers were assisted by the Grand Traverse County Sheriff’s Office, Blair Township Emergency
Services, and Paradise Township Emergency Services.
