Ishpeming Man Faces New Criminal Sexual Conduct Charges

Marquette County, Michigan. The Michigan State Police (MSP) Negaunee Post is announcing
new arrests of 34-year-old Gerald Burton of Ishpeming, following new additional investigations
into alleged criminal sexual conduct. On May 6, 2025, MSP announced Burton’s prior arrests
linked to two investigations, resulting in felony sexual conduct charges issued by the Marquette
County Prosecutor and his arraignment in 96th District Court.

In the initial press release, MSP asked that anyone with additional information contact them.
Following that release and subsequent coverage by local media, two previously unknown
victims came forward and spoke with MSP detectives. MSP initiated investigations that have
resulted in further felony criminal sexual conduct charges being issued by the Marquette County
Prosecutor.

On May 22, 2025, Burton was arraigned in the 96th District Court on one count of Criminal
Sexual Conduct in the Third Degree. Following the arraignment, his bond was set at twenty
thousand dollars ($20,000).

On May 22, 2025, Burton was arraigned for a second time in the 96th District Court, this time on
an additional charge resulting from a separate investigation. This new charge was also one
count of Criminal Sexual Conduct in the Third Degree. His bond was once again set at twenty
thousand dollars ($20,000). Burton’s next court appearance is scheduled for June 12, 2025.

This brings the current total to four separate cases, which has resulted in charges of a
combined total of seven counts of criminal sexual conduct, spanning multiple degrees. MSP
believes there still may be other victims, witnesses, or individuals with additional information.
Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the MSP Negaunee Post at 906-475-9922.
The defendant is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
