SAULT STE MARIE, MI – It all started at, presumably, the southern border where everything is clear as mud. 19 non-resident aliens entered the US and somehow came into possession of a converted school bus. They drove that bus from – wherever – north into Grand Traverse County where they were stopped by a Sheriff Deputy for erratic driving on Friday the 23rd. The driver didn’t possess any US Driver’s License, but did show deputies a Mexican Voter’s Card. Lack of a license could be why he was observed swerving all over the road.
US Border Patrol was contacted by Grand Traverse authorities and the immigrants were granted authority to continue to Sault Ste Marie where they would be processed by the Border Patrol Station there. They were all issued Notices to Appear and placed in immigration removal proceedings. Border Patrol in Detroit would not answer any further questions regarding the incident.
It’s unclear where they entered the US at or who drove the bus from Grand Traverse County to the Sault after the initial driver didn’t have a driver’s license or where these immigrants are now? Were they released to the public or were they placed in housing? US officials refused to answer any questions due to an ongoing investigation.
