Blue Devils Football Recognizes Outstanding Athletes 

The Sault High Varsity and JV Football teams celebrated their seasons and gave special recognition to some of the outstanding athletes on the teams. 

The coaches of the teams in the Big North Conference voted on players that stood out throughout the season. A number of Sault High players made the various All-Conference teams. Making First Team Defense are Seniors Callen Campbell for his work on the defensive line, and Kaydin Lujan at Linebacker. Second Team Defense recognition goes to Seniors Evan Arbic, also on the defensive line, and Ryan TenEyck as a defensive back. Blue Devils that made Second Team Offense are Seniors Chris Kiekhaefer on the offensive line, and Ryver Ryckeghem at running back. Receiving Honorable Mention are Senior Cam Labadie for his work as linebacker and defensive end, and Junior Brett Siesel as defensive back. Special Mention goes to Senior Will Ohman at defensive back. 

All-UP Awards are voted on by coaches across all of the schools in the Upper Peninsula. Making the Dream Team are Campbell for defensive line and Lujan at linebacker. Special Mention goes to TenEyck at defensive back, and Freshmen Aaron McLeod for his efforts as the kicker. Arbic received Honorable Mention for his work on the defensive line.

The Michigan High School Football Coaches Association voted Sunday night, and both Callen Campbell and Kaydin Lujan were selected to the All-Region Team in Division 4 for their work on defense. 

Each year the Sault High Coaching Staff select members of the team to receive perpetual awards. The Team Co-MVPs are Callen Campbell and Kaydin Lujan. Offensive MVP went to Campbell, and Lujan received the Defensive MVP award. Ryan TenEyck received the Most Improved Award. The Archie “Beek” Weston Heart and Determination Award was presented to Junior Cale Bell and Ryver Ryckeghem. The Felix “Butsy” Tavern Spirit and Loyalty Award was given to Callen Campbell. The Most Valuable Linemen of the year were Evan Arbic and Chris Kiekhaefer. Lastly, the recipient of the Jim Casey “Unsung Hero” Award was Cam Labadie. 

The Junior Varsity players received recognition for their efforts this season as well. The Team MVP was Sophomore Marc DeWildt. Offensive MVP was Freshman Sam Kiekhaefer. Defensive Co-MVPs were DeWildt and Freshman Nick Causley. The Coaches Award was presented to Sophomore Michael Morse. The Most Improved Player Award went to Sophomore Owen O’Connor.
