Terry Baxter

Terry Dean Baxter, age 67, passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2022 after a brief battle with cancer. He passed away at his home in Rudyard, Michigan surrounded by his family.

Terry was born on March 20, 1955 to Horace and Phyllis (DeWitt) Baxter in Sault Ste. Marie, MI. He graduated with the Rudyard High School Class of 1973. On October 11, 1975, he married Debra Niekerk at Huggard Lake Bible Church in Sand Lake, MI. Terry owned his own flooring company, Baxter Flooring Installation for over 40 years, with his wife working alongside him. Terry was a member of the Rudyard Bible Church, where he enjoyed working with the youth for over 40 years. He was also a member of the Christian Motorcyclists Association. Terry loved figuring out how things worked and fixing or manufacturing them. He enjoyed golfing in summer, bowling in winter, hunting in the fall, and motorcycling and driving all year through.

Terry is survived by his wife of 46 years: Debra Baxter; his mother: Phyllis Baxter of Rudyard, MI; his sister: Janice (Richard) Williams of Wayland, MI; his nephews: Adam Williams of Lake Orion, MI; Cody (Jennifer) Williams of Wayland, MI; a great nephew: Bradley Williams; and a great niece: Scarlett Williams.

Terry was preceded in death by his father, Horace.

A memorial service will be held at 3:30 PM on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at Rudyard Bible Church. Friends may gather at the church that same day from 1:00 PM until the time of the service. Burial will be at North Rudyard Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to Rudyard Bible Church or the Christian Motorcyclists Association.
