Geraldine Ann “Jeri” Bodwin

Geraldine Ann “Jeri” (Preston) Bodwin of Carp Lake, Michigan, passed away on April 29, 2022, at home with family by her side at the age of 86. She was born in Detroit, Michigan, on July 27, 1935, to Clarence Marion Jr. and Ruth (Steinbach) Preston.

Jeri grew up in the Detroit and the Downriver, Michigan area and attended the local school. She met Melvin in the mid 80’s. They married in Taylor, Michigan, on June 4, 1994, and joined their families together.

Jeri loved her Gospel and country music; she loved singing and dancing. She also loved her jig saw puzzles. She loved spending time with her friends and family. She was selfless in everything she did.

Jeri is survived by her sons, Robert (Suzanne) Whittecar of Carp Lake, Kevin (Angela) Whittecar of Warren, Michigan, Gary (Deborah) Whittecar of Riverview, Michigan, Michael (Sherri Sloan) Whittecar of Wyandotte, Michigan; daughter, Denise (Doug) Flick of Sylvania, Ohio; step-son, John (Anne) Bodwin; brother, Rev. Donald Preston of Riverview; grandchildren, Robert Whittecar Jr., Heather Cline, Mark Stroud Jr., William Stroud, Tara Whittecar, Sasha Gail, Subrinia Moore, Sable Whittecar, Destinee Whittecar, Kevin Whittecar, Michael Whittecar Jr., Brittany Whittecar, Shelby Pronek and Katie Pronek; step-father, Jack “Pappy” Brunson; as well as 21 great-grandchildren; and many dear nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends.

Jeri is preceded in death by her husband, Melvin; sister, Mary (Winie) Ehgotz; brother, Gerald (Pugh) Preston; and parents, Clarence and Ruth; and step-son, Melvin Bodwin Jr.

A Celebrate of Life will be held in July 2022. Details to follow
