Betty Wilks

Betty was born May 4, 1941, in Copemish, Michigan to Homer and Beverly (Carpenter) Morris. Betty was a graduate of Copemish High School in May, 1959. She was a member of Woodville Christian Reformed Church in Woodville, MI and First Prysbeterian Church in Crossville, TN. Betty spent many faithful years working for the US Postal Service as a rural carrier and clerk. She was married to the late Winston Wilks for 61 years.

Betty wasn’t afraid of challenges and was a creative soul enjoying all manner of arts and crafts. She enjoyed sewing, cross stitch, macrame, basket weaving, and was recognized in Tennessee for her work with stained glass. She was an avid antique collector, with a special affinity for Harlequin dishes. She was a terrific gourmet cook with a heart for entertaining others. Betty and Winston were avid travelers around the USA.

Betty is survived by her children Jeffrey (Darla Thompson) Wilks, Jennifer Wilks, and Matthew (Sue Anne Cleary) Wilks, her grandchildren Jeffrey Wilks, Jessica (Charlie) Cantwell, Adam (Heather) Wilks, Aaron (Kandie) Wilks, and Allison Wilks, and her great grandchildren Declan and Ryker Wilks.

Betty is also survived by her sisters Rita Minteer, Susie Morris, Peggy (Dave) Witkop, JoAnn Smith-Guerra, and her brother Ellsworth “Butch” Morris. She was preceded in death by her husband Winston, her parents, her brother Dick Morris, sister Patricia Morris, and granddaughter Hannah Jane Wilks.
