Margaret “Maggie” Myrtle Baldwin

Margaret “Maggie” Myrtle (Forrest) Baldwin passed away on March 26, 2022, at the Robert and Helen Ball Hospice House in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan at the age of 83 years old. Maggie was one of twelve children born to the late Arnold and Myrtle (McKelligan) Forrest on December 27, 1938.

Maggie married Dewey Baldwin on February 14, 1976. Together they owned and operated several local businesses. She was a dedicated, hard worker and many will remember her from the nearly forty years she worked and managed the Soo Corner Store.

Maggie enjoyed bowling and played league bowling for several years. She was also an avid reader. She and Dewey enjoyed taking day road trips in the summers and going to the casinos. She especially loved having family around, always offering to host cookouts, holidays, and Sunday dinners.

Maggie is survived by children, Vicki O’Brien, Tim “Mark” (Christy) Baldwin, Jim Tindell, Tracey (Lou Gazzola) Baldwin, Mike (Karlene) Mills, Charlene (Brian) Marken, Stephanie (Matt) Bumstead, and Jackie (Pat) Killips. She loved her blended family of “his, hers, ours and theirs”. She was blessed with twenty-one grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren and another on the way. She is also survived by siblings James (Barb) Forrest, Kenny (Barb) Forrest, Roberta Barfield, Lucy Lankford, Moe (Carol) Forrest, Marcia (Tom) Merry, and sister-in-law Lorena Hooton and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 40 years, Dewey; a daughter, Debra Tindell, a baby boy, Rickey, and a baby girl; siblings, Patrick Forrest, Marshall (Delores) Forrest, Barbara (Donald) Campbell, Linda Peters, Suzanne (Larry) Schnepp; sister-in-law, Phyllis Forrest; and brothers-in-law, Gene Barfield, Craig Lankford, and Charles Baldwin and one grandson Andrew Killips.

The family is incredibly grateful to the Hospice of the EUP staff and Christy Curtis RN for the wonderful care they took of Maggie over the last few months. There is no thank-you big enough for the support they gave the family.

Per Maggie’s request, no services will be held.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to Hospice of the EUP.
