Karen Louise Stewart-Bailey

Karen Louise Stewart-Bailey, age 64, of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, passed away on Monday, March 14, 2022, at the Hospice of the EUP – Hospice House.

Karen was born on May 16, 1957, in Ann Arbor, Michigan to the late Walter Mills and Mary Louise (Gage) Stewart. She was a graduate of LaSalle High School, in St. Ignace, MI, with the class of 1975. Karen was a member of Community Baptist Church, and a former member of the Eastern Star.  She was an avid reader who enjoyed playing word games (Scrabble) and solitaire. Karen also enjoyed singing and playing the piano. Karen is survived by her husband: Donald E. Bailey, Jr., whom she married on December 28, 2019, three sons: David Pope of Muskegon, MI, Michael Busch of Philadelphia, PA, and Kenneth Stewart of Sault Ste. Marie, MI; a step-daughter: Holly Dowd of Marinette, WI; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.  Karen is also survived by her siblings; Kathleen (Chris) Kittell of St. Ignace, MI, Janet (Michael) Paquin of St. Ignace, MI, Timothy (Karen) Stewart of Royal Oak, MI, and Jill (Toby) Ray of Traverse City, MI. Karen was preceded in death by her parents and a brother: Thomas Stewart.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Monday, March 21, 2022, at Community Baptist Church with Pastor Witte officiating. Friends may call at the church from 1:00 PM until the time of service.  Burial will be at Bethel Cemetery in the spring.
