Donald Joseph Dolezel

Donald Joseph” Don” Dolezel, age 88, of Sault Ste. Marie, MI passed away on Tuesday March 1, 2022, at Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain, MI.

Don was born on May 6, 1933, in Sault Ste. Marie, MI to the late Vencel J. and Mary J. (Pillote) Dolezel.

Don was a graduate of Loretto High School, with the class of 1952. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict as a Medic while stationed in Germany and retired from the Army National Guard. Don was a life member of VFW in Sault Ste. Marie, he was also a member of American Lions Christopher Columbus, Knights of Columbus, NCO Club, and St Joseph’s Parish.  

Don will be remembered for his love and knowledge of county music.  Throughout the years Don formed numerous country bands and played in many other bands. If there was a benefit you would find Don and his many musician friends, there playing for the cause.

In 1985 Don met the love of his life, Judi Walsh and they spent 31 wonderful years together.

Don loved his family and loved having them over for a meal.

Don was kind and generous man and took much joy in helping others.

Don is survived by his children: Michael (Helen) Dolezel of Gaston, SC, Mary Makala of Ivor, VA and Patty (Jerry Harwood) Ordiway of Sault Ste. Marie, MI; 9 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 1 great grandchild to be born in June.
