Edythe Coe Nicole

Peacefully Edythe Coe (King) Nicole, age 76, of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, passed November 18, 2021, at her home. She was born September 18, 1946, in Munising, Michigan, to Ralph and Melvina (Marshall) King.

Edythe grew up in Lincoln Park and graduated from River Rouge Michigan high school. She then went on to attend beauty school. Edythe started working as a social worker after she started her family. She pursued many different experiences in life; she worked as a bartender and cook at River Rouge Bar & Grill, as well as some waitressing. Edythe was a loving mother who provided for her family in every possible way but especially in loving them.

Edythe loved playing bingo and visiting the casino. She had an unfiltered mouth and wasn’t ashamed of it. She was also a talented seamstress and would often help craft regalia dresses.

Edythe is survived by her sons, Terry Vallie of Lincoln Park, and Jerold Nicole Jr. of Oklahoma; daughters, Virginia (Morris) Vallie of Lincoln Park, Nikol (Ted) Wynn of Sault Ste. Marie, Keri (Eric) Hayes of New York, and Alaysia Brewer of Grand Rapids, Michigan; sisters, Coleen (Rick) Peterson of Howell, Michigan and Lynn Atkinson of Prudenville, Michigan; fifteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Edythe is preceded in death by her parents, daughter-in-law, Mary Nicole; siblings, Anne (Frank) Alberts, Richard Atkinson, Mark Atkinson, Jeannette Atkinson, and an infant brother.

A ceremony was held by her family at the Sault Ste. Marie Tribal Cultural center.
