Thelma Jean Murray

Thelma Jean Murray, age 93, of Sugar Island, Michigan, passed away on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at War Memorial Hospital.

Thelma was born on November 2, 1928 in Holly, Michigan, to Jacob and Amanda (Thorington) Grim.  She graduated with the Holly High School Class of 1945, and attended Baker College, earning her Associate’s Degree in bookkeeping.  In August 1970, she married Walter Murray in Flint, Michigan.  

Thelma worked as co-owner and operator of an accounting business with her husband, Walter.  She enjoyed farming, growing flowers, working in her greenhouse, knitting, and cross stitch.  She also owned and loved 13 different wolf hounds; the current one is named Abby.  Thelma is survived by her daughters: Kathy (Clark) Noble, and Sharon (Douglas) Groveston, both of Sugar Island, MI; her son: Tim Hutchinson of Sugar Island, MI; and her stepsons:  Paul Murray and Dave Murray, both of Fenton, MI.  Thelma is also survived by 7 grandchildren: Chris (Christa) Cohee, Joe (Andrea) Cohee, Danny (Melissa) Lambert, Christy (Steve) Russell, Tim (Karyn) Hutchinson, Shawn (Jennifer) Hutchinson and Andy (Eli) Hutchinson; and 15 great-grandchildren.  

Thelma was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her brother: Dale Grim; and her sister: Loraine Lee.  

Private family services will be held on a later date.
