Charles Patrick Hanson

Charles Patrick Hanson, age 60, of St. Ignace, Michigan, died on October 21, 2021, in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. He was born on June 22, 1961, in Petoskey, Michigan, to Jack Marvin and Yvonne (Robinson) Hanson.

Charlie spent some of his youth in St. Ignace, but eventually moved to Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. He attended and graduated from Sault Area High School. He was previously married and had a son in Sault Ste. Marie. As a young man, he worked with horses on Mackinac Island. He met Michelle Durso in the early 1980’s on Mackinac Island and they were married in 1991. Charlie went on to work in construction as a mason and drywaller and then started his own excavating company in 2003.

Charlie was a member of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians.

Charlie enjoyed hunting, fishing, and 4-wheeling and he loved spending time rabbit hunting with his beagles. He also enjoyed homemade baked goods.

Charlie is survived by his wife, Michelle; son, Charles Hanson Jr. of Illinois; sister, Debbie (James) McCall of St. Ignace; sister-in-law, Bonnie Tallman of St. Ignace; nieces, Jamie Pearson and Jennifer McCall; and many good friends.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Joe Hanson; and grandparents, Genevieve and Joe Robinson and Howard and Mae Hanson.

Private Family Services will be held.

Memorial contributions may be left to Sault Tribe of Chippewa Indians.
