Beverly Joan Ferroni

Beverly Joan Ferroni (Milligan), 87, passed away on November 6, 2021 at the Ball Hospice House in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan where she had spent the last three weeks of her life under the loving care of her family and wonderful Hospice staff.

Beverly was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan on May 17, 1934 to the late Randall and Elizabeth (Alford) Milligan. She was one of four children, whose father died when she was very young. Her Mother raised her and her siblings with the loving support of her uncle, the late James Alford.

Beverly is predeceased by her husband, Philip C. Ferroni; parents, Randall and Elizabeth Milligan (Alford); sister, Margaret (Walter) Steggal; brother, James (Carol) Milligan; son-in-law, Gerald VanLuven, Jr., and brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Louise Bumbacco.

Beverly is survived by her wonderful brother, Corwin “Corky” (Joyce) Milligan; daughters, Brenda (Dr. Robert) Mackie and Ellie VanLuven and son, John (Terri) Ferroni; five beautiful grandchildren, Jillian (Brenan) Pultz , Kaitlynn Mackie, Kelsey Mackie, Philip Ferroni, and Emily Ferroni. Beverly was also blessed with two great grandchildren, Pendle and Paige Pultz, several nieces and nephews as well as a special friend, Roberta Proffitt.

Beverly married Philip C. Ferroni on September 3, 1956 and enjoyed 52 years of marriage before Phil’s passing in 2008. Beverly retired from the Sault Area Public Schools in January 1992, after 19 years of service. During her career, she worked as a library paraprofessional at Washington Elementary School and a math/reading paraprofessional at the Alternative Education Center.

Beverly loved cooking, volunteering her time at Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church calling members for the Altar Society, and was also a member of the Christopher Columbus Hall. Her most precious moments were watching and supporting her children and grandchildren’s activities, as well as spending time with her family.

The family would like to thank the staff at West Pier Apartments for their daily kindness as well as the Ball Hospice House Staff for making her so very comfortable during the end of her life. A special thank you to Tracy Holt and Mary Jo DuVall for their guidance and to Cindy Armstrong for her kindness and compassion in our Mother’s end of life journey.

There will be a private Memorial Funeral Mass at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Fr. Nicholas Thompson officiating. Final resting place will be with her husband, Philip, at the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada.
