Bulldogs run past Bays to remain unbeaten in EUPC play (with photos)

The Rudyard Bulldogs boys’ basketball team improved to 9-1 on the season, and remain unbeaten in Eastern Upper Peninsula Conference play, as they ran past the Brimley Bays, 61-46, Tuesday night at the Harris Kahl Gymnasium. E.J. Suggitt scored 18 points for the Bulldogs, while Tate Besteman added 17. Graydon Newland had 18 points for the Bays. Rudyard will host a Straits Area Conference showdown with Cheboygan on Wednesday night. Brimley (3-6) is at Engadine on Friday. In other boys’ basketball from Tuesday night, St. Ignace defeated Pickford, 61-54 at the Iggy Zone. St. Ignace (7-3) hosts Newberry on Saturday afternoon. Pickford (2-7) is at DeTour on Wednesday.

Cedarville (5-3) will be at Sault High (2-8) on Wednesday night in boys’ basketball. You can hear that game on 1230 WSOO with Dave Watson and Ray Bell, starting with the tip-off show around 7:00 p.m. Newberry (4-6) is at Munising on Wednesday.

In EUP Conference girls’ basketball action from Tuesday night, Cedarville routed DeTour, 68-11. Cedarville (6-2) will host Pickford on Thursday night, while DeTour (0-7) is home to Newberry on Thursday. The Newberry Indians won their fourth game in a row, as they defeated Engadine, 47-25. Newberry (5-6) is at DeTour on Thursday, Engadine (4-7) is at Brimley on Thursday. St. Ignace won their fourth game in a row, as they topped Pickford, 65-40. St. Ignace (8-3) hosts Mackinaw City on Saturday afternoon, Pickford (7-3) is at Cedarville on Thursday.
