Michigan State Police Investigate Attempted Murder in Roscommon County

ROSCOMMON COUNTY, MICH. Two men are in custody following an investigation into an attempted murder of a man that was severely assaulted at a residence in Lake Township, then left in a swampy area off Old-27 in Roscommon County.

The preliminary investigation indicates that on August 25 at approximately 5:30 a.m. a man was allegedly choked, beaten, and left with a laceration to his neck at a home on Victory Road by two individuals, one of which was known to the victim. The suspects then transported the victim to a swampy area off Old-27 where they left him and drove away. The victim was able to get out of the water to get help.

As investigators continued to gather information, they located and arrested two suspects in connection with the attempted murder of the victim.

The suspects have been identified as a 20-year-old man from Wayland and a 37-year-old man from Midland.

The victim was treated at the hospital and has since been released.

The investigation remains ongoing. Additional details will be provided when they become available.

Troopers were assisted by the MSP Emergency Support Team, MSP Canine Unit, MSP Tri-City Post, MSP Seventh and Third District Fugitive Teams, MSP Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit, MSP Aviation Unit, MSP Grayling Crime Laboratory, Saginaw Major Crimes Unit (MCU), and the Roscommon County Sheriff’s Office.
