MISSAUKEEE COUNTY, MI. On May 3, 2026, at approximately 10:50 a.m., troopers from the
Michigan State Police (MSP) Cadillac Post responded to a residence on N. Wilson Road in Lake
City for a report of a shooting. Troopers arrived on scene and located three people who had
been shot.
Preliminary investigation indicates an 85-year-old man from Lake City shot his 64-year-old-
daughter and 89-year-old wife before shooting himself. The wife was transported to a local
hospital in critical condition; both the husband and daughter succumbed to their injuries on
scene.
Detectives from the Seventh District Special Investigation Section (SIS) and the MSP Forensic
Science Division Grayling Crime Lab responded to assist detectives investigating the homicide.
This is an active and ongoing investigation. There is no threat to the public.
Troopers were assisted by the Missaukee County Sheriff’s Office and Missaukee County EMS.

Since the initial news release, investigators have learned that the 89-year-old woman
succumbed to her injuries at approximately 9:20 p.m. on May 3.
