Emmet County Woman Arrested with Back-to-Back DUI Arrests

EMMET COUNTY, MI. A Levering woman has been charged with two counts of operating a vehicle while
intoxicated after back-to-back arrests.

On May 6, 2026, troopers from the Michigan State Police (MSP) Gaylord Post responded to the area of
US 31 Highway near Litzner Road in Carp Lake Township after receiving a report of an erratic driver.
Troopers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop for a vehicle violation. The preliminary
investigation indicated that Marti Berlin, 54, of Levering, was believed to be intoxicated while operating
her vehicle. She was arrested and lodged at the Emmet County Jail without incident.

On May 7 at approximately 5:00 p.m., troopers responded to the area of US 31 near Ball Road in
McKinley Township to investigate a traffic crash in which the at-fault driver fled the scene. Troopers
located the suspect vehicle at the Pellston General Store. A roadside investigation was conducted, and
the driver was again identified as Marti Berlin. She was believed to be intoxicated for the second day in a
row. Berlin was arrested and lodged at the Emmet County Jail for Operating While Intoxicated.

Berlin was arraigned today in the 90th District Court in Emmet County on two counts of Operating While
Intoxicated. Her next court appearance is on June 8 at 2:00 p.m.

“Individuals who choose to get behind the wheel after drinking pose a significant risk to public safety,”
said Lt. Ashley Miller. “These incidents emphasize the importance of responsible decision-making and the ongoing need for enforcement. We are grateful no one was injured during these encounters, and our
troopers remain committed to proactive patrols and continued enforcement efforts to combat impaired
driving.”
