ALPENA COUNTY, MI. On Thursday, November 27, 2025, at approximately 8:40 a.m., deputies from
the Presque Isle County Sheriff’s Department attempted a traffic stop on a pickup truck near Rogers City.
The vehicle, driven by a 33-year-old male, was known to deputies to be a wanted felon.
The suspect fled the scene, and a vehicle pursuit was initiated. The pursuit continued into Alpena County
and concluded when the suspect’s vehicle crashed into a ditch on M-65 near Leer Road in Long Rapids
Township.
Upon exiting the vehicle, the suspect was observed holding a firearm. Deputies discharged their
department issued weapons, striking the suspect. Deputies immediately rendered medical aid on scene.
The suspect was transported to the hospital and is currently listed in stable condition. No deputies were
injured during the incident.
The Michigan State Police (MSP) Investigative Response Team and MSP Crime Lab responded to
investigate and process the scene.
