Cadillac Man Arrested for Arson after House Fire

WEXFORD COUNTY, MI. On September 3 at approximately 10:00 p.m., troopers from the Michigan
State Police (MSP) Cadillac Post responded to a residence in Cedar Creek Township for a house fire with
a man still inside. Firefighters from the Cedar Creek Township Fire Department arrived on scene and
rescued the man from the burning house.

Preliminary investigation indicated that 46-year-old Scott Hermanson of Cadillac started the house fire by using an accelerant after a domestic assault with a female. Hermanson was immediately transported to the hospital with serious injuries. The female was also transported to a local hospital for a medica
evaluation.

Hermanson was arraigned in the 84 th District Court in Wexford County on September 19 on one count of Arson and one count of Assault and Battery: Domestic Violence. His next court appearance is on
November 3 at 10:30 a.m.

Troopers were assisted by the Cadillac City Fire Department, Cedar Creek Township Fire Department,
Haring Township Fire Department, Selma Township Fire Department, Cherry Grove Township Fire
Department, Manton Fire Department, and MMR.
