Kalkaska County, Michigan. On July 4, 2025, at approximately 2:00 am, troopers from the
Michigan State Police (MSP) Houghton Lake Post responded to a fatal crash involving a side-
by-side ATV on private property located on Inman Road in Springfield Township, Kalkaska
County.
Preliminary investigation indicates the off-road vehicle rolled over while carrying five occupants.
None of the individuals were reportedly wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
One passenger suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash. Another passenger sustained a
serious head injury, and a third suffered a broken arm. The driver, a 33-year-old man from
Albion, was arrested and lodged in the Kalkaska County Jail on charges of Operating While
Intoxicated (OWI) Causing Death and two counts of OWI Causing Serious Injury.
The investigation is still ongoing.
