EXCELSIOR TWP., KALKASKA COUNTY, MI. On June 26, the Traverse Narcotics Team (TNT) was contacted by Muskegon area detectives who were looking to arrest a fugitive who had a valid warrant for Assault with the Intent to Murder. Detectives had reason to believe the 18-year-old man from Muskegon was in Kalkaska County. TNT detectives were able to locate the residence where he was staying, and they conducted surveillance.
TNT detectives, a Kalkaska County Sheriff’s Office deputy, and a Michigan State Police trooper eventually contacted the fugitive at a nearby gas station, where he was taken into custody without incident. A 36-year-old female from Petoskey was also arrested for a felony drug warrant and lodged at the Kalkaska County Jail.
The male fugitive was searched and officers located crack cocaine, cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, and fentanyl in his pants. Cocaine, fentanyl, and crystal methamphetamine were also located in the pants of the female when she was searched.
Additional charges are being sought on both suspects by the Kalkaska County Prosecutor’s Office. TNT was assisted by the MSP Houghton Lake Post and the Kalkaska County Sheriff’s Office.
