Blue Devils Cross Country Boys Win in Jackson

The Sault High Varsity Boys’ Cross Country team came out on top at the Jackson Invitational this weekend. All six runners representing the team finished in the top 20, contributing to the winning score of 47 points. Adrian was close behind with 49, and Parma Western finished in third with 63 points. Gabe Litzner won the purple division, with a time of 15:41.65. Eli Hills (17:34.18) was seventh, Evan Huyck (17:38.27) was eighth, Adam Brandt (18:06.14) finished fourteenth and Daniel Bowerman (18:12.64) and Chase Aldridge (18:18.62) were seventeenth and eighteenth respectively. 

The Sault Girls’ team came in seventh place overall with a team total of 202 points. Stephanie Jones (21:59.11) and Isabelle McCord (22:25.59) made the platform with top 30 finishes. Eleanor Carey (25:35.97), Elise Proulx (25:47.84), and Isabeau Woodard (26:10.65) rounded out the scoring for the Lady Blue Devils. Addyson Labadie (26:14.23) and Nicole Perez (27:09.01) completed the roster. 

Sault High also sent runners to the JV and middle school invite on Friday. The top five runners for the JV boys were Ian Southwell (19:31.7), McKal Berry (19:42.0), Ryan O’Connor (19:53.7), Alex Huyck (20:44.2) and Beau Litzner (21:42.9). Taylor Meilstrup (27:15.4), Leighton Nyboer (28:48.8), River Brey (29:30.8), Gianna Sayer (29:55.1), and Isabella Cicco (29:56.7) represented the JV girls. For the two mile middle school race, Drew Burtt (12:18.3), Carson Clements (12:28.9), Mace Kavanaugh (13:28.8), David Hollister (14:23.6) and Parker Hills (14:29.2) were the top five runners on the boys team. Cora Goulet (13:30.1), Araleah Campbell (15:17.4), Alexa Schwartz (15:25.4), Anna Klozatsky 16:38.4) and Allie Goulet were the top runners for the girls. 

This Saturday, the teams will host the Sault Elks Invitational, with the first group of runners starting at 1:00pm.
