Sault High Track and Field Prepares for Upcoming Season

The Sault High Blue Devils Track and Field teams started practice a few weeks ago. With 35 girls and 40 boys currently signed up, the teams are in good shape to have another successful season. Coach Scott Menard shared, “The boys team lost a lot of key members last year, but still have a good core of returning athletes. The girls team has a few more returners, but also lost some key team members from last year.” Student athletes are still welcome to join the team into the middle of April. Returning coaches are Menard, Jim Martin, Becky Arbic, Brad Boven, Tony McLain, and Michael Rand.

“Our first meet is at LSSU on Friday, April 5th.  After that, we are on the road for the rest of the year with all outdoor meets.  Key meet dates are May 15 for the Regionals, May 21 for the SAC Championship, and June 1 for the UP Finals.” Both teams won the conference championship last year and had a number of athletes qualify at regionals to compete in the UP Finals. They are looking to have another successful season this spring. The athletes will have a week off then gear up for the first meet of the season when they return from spring break.
