Sault Area Middle School Runners Sweep Regionals

The Middle School Cross Country teams wrapped up their season on top, with both teams finishing in first place. The teams brought home some impressive hardware for their school’s trophy case after winning their respective two mile events. 

For the Girls Team, Isabelle McCord (13:36)

and Cora Goulet (13:50) were the top two finishers for the team. The two athletes took turns being in the top two spots for their team all season long. Isabeau Woodard (15:55), Anna Klozotsky (16:04), Isabella Cicco (17:05), Shelby Woolever (17:23), Olivia Nyboer (18:08), Annalise Kasprzak (18:25), Nicole Perez (18:49) and Kruze Taylor (19:51) contributed to the championship team. 

The Boys Team was led by Ian Southwell (11:58), and Drew Burtt (12:26) was not too far behind. Zachary Peterson (13:14), Mace Kavanaugh (13:56), Nolan Green (14:40), Collin Bunker (14:38), Parker Hills (14:58), 

David Hollister (15:36), Jacob Proulx (16:59), and AJ Guilmette (18:50) completed the boys championship squad. 

Both teams had successful seasons, with the girls winning the Emeralds Invite and Straits Area Conference Championship, taking second at the Barnyard Invite, and earning third place at home at the Elks Invite. The boys won the Elks and Barnyard Invites, and were runners up at the Emeralds Invite and Straits Area Conference. Both teams had a number of athletes make the all-conference teams as well. The team is coached by Stephanie Vert, and assistant Ursula Walthers.
