Sault’s Litzner is Runner Up at Jackson Invitational 

The biggest meet of the season, the combined Sault Area Varsity, JV and Middle School cross country teams traveled to compete in the Jackson Invitational over the weekend. Sault High sophomore Gabe Litzner was runner up in the Varsity boys competition, with a time of 15:53.50. His teammates sophomore Shea Armstrong (17:15.29) and juniors Eli Hills (18:27.52) and Evan Huyck (19:07.22) also made the platform placing in the top 30. The varsity boys team took third place overall with 82 points. Blue Devil runners sophomore Ryan O’Connor (19:31.49), freshman Chase Aldridge (19:44.27), and junior McKal Berry (19:49.07) also contributed to the team’s success. 

For the Varsity girls, seniors Abby Walther (22:10.20) and Calla Armstrong (23.01.40) medaled in the event. Sophomore Stephanie Jones (23:58.40), freshmen Regan Sporte (24:00.50) and Leighton Nyboer (24:17.40), senior Dayna Szabo (25:06.30), and sophomore Eleanor Carey (27:04.20) helped earn a fifth place finish with 129 points. 

The JV Blue Devils boys came in 13th place, with 393 points. Senior Devin Goetz (20:33.80); juniors Isaac Brindley (20:49.20), Camren McClenny (26:14.80), and Johnny

Osborn (34:29.50); sophomore Aiden Burtt (24:28.60) and freshmen Easton Hills (21:51.40), Arlin Alcorn (22:50.0), and Hayden Preston (24:27.40) competed in a field of 219 runners. 

The JV girls came in 12th place with 315 points. Seniors Noa Durand-Cabeza (27:20.90), Hailee O’Connor (29:53.50), and Helana Bishop (34:39.60); sophomores Taylor Meilstrup (25:16.70) and Evelyn Weber (29:51.80); and freshmen Addyson Labadie (25:14.20), Gianna Sayer (28:30.20), Savannah Proulx (32:25.10) and Thelma Osumili (38:17.0) competed in a field of 168 runners. 

The Sault Area Middle School was well represented in Jackson during the two miles races, with the girls taking sixth place with 218 points and the boys placing 11th with 334 points. Eighth grader Isabella McCord (14:58.40) and seventh grader Cora Goulet (14:02.70) medaled for the girls team and eighth grader Ian Southwell (12:08.60) medaled for the boys. Eighth graders Isabeau Woodard (15:14.10), Isabella Cicco (17:41.0), River Brey (18:41.70), Nicole Perez (22:18.20), Nolan Green (15:45.10), Chancellor Gardner (17:23.40), and AJ Guilmette (19:11.40); seventh graders Anna Klozatsky (16:36.30), Annalise Kasprzak (19:58.80), Shelby Woolever (20:02.20), Drew Burtt (12:36.60), Zachary Peterson (13:28.70), Collin Bunker (15:29.30), David Hollister (17:29), Chase Halverson (17:30) and sixth graders Olivia Nyboer (18:09.50), Kruze Taylor (20:57.70), Sophia Emerson (21:01.90), Parker Hills (15:42), and Jacob Proulx (17:14.80) all competed amongst a field of several hundred runners.
