Indians go 3-1 at Tier 1 Hockey Federation Showcase

In the opening game of the Tier1 Hockey Federation showcase in Pittsburg the Indians came out quick scoring three goals in the opening period. Jordan Murray started the scoring early in the period from Deven Jones-McDonald, then Carter Huckson scored 50 seconds later from Tyler Neveau and Murray got his second of the game from Evan Hoglund and Jones-McDonald to give the Indians a 3-0 lead through the first period. Murray scored his third of the game for the hat trick early in the second period from Sam Swintek and Hoglund and then Carter Huckson got his second of the game from Colton the 5-0 lead at the end of the second period. Jarret Crimin got the 6th Indians goal early in the third period from Swintek and Dominic Cicco, however the Chiefs got one past the Indians netminder to get on the board. Midway through the final period Carson Unger put a rebound into the net assisted by Carter Huckson and Marco Beaubien and Sam Swintek closed out the scoring on a shot from the point assisted by Hoglund and Murray to close out the scoring and final score of 8-1. Isiah Anderson earned the win in net for the Indians.

The second game of the Tier1 showcase pitted the Indians against the New Jersey Rockets. The Rockets opened the scoring in the first period to take the early lead in the game. With 34 seconds remaining in the first period Evan Hoglund scored from Marco Beaubien and Carson Unger to even the score at 1 a piece through one period. In the second period Unger scored on the power play assisted by Wyatt Fischer and Treyce Moran to take the lead, then late in second period Jordan Murray scored unassisted and with 2:53 remaining in the period Tyler Neveau scored from Deven Jones-McDonald to send the teams to the dressing room with the Indians up 4-1. In the third Deven Jones-McDonald scored from Hoglund for a 5-1 lead, then Rockets got on the board, from that point Nathan Maguire shut the door to earn the 5-2 win for the Indians.

Sunday saw the Indians taking on the Rose City Pat’s from Pasadena CA, Both teams opened the first period with a fast paced up and down the ice with neither teams scoring. In the second the Pat’s capitized on two goals in a short period to go up 2-0 at the end of the second period. The third period saw Rose City add one more goal to secure a 3-0 win, Nathan Maguire was in the net for the Indians in a losing effort.

The final game of the Tier1 Federation Showcase matched the Indians against the St. Francis Prep Red Raiders from Buffalo New York. Both teams battled hard through the first two periods but couldn’t manage to score sending then into the third period tied 0-0. In the third Connor Carlson found the net on a rebound, assisted by Dominic Crimin and Jarret Crimin for the lead. Less than two minutes later the Red Raiders capitalized on a power play to even things up at 1, then with 4 minutes remaining Carson Unger chipped the puck past the Red Raiders defenseman to Evan Hoglund who beat their netminder on a shot to put the Indians back in the lead and with 5 seconds remaining Dominic Cicco scored on the open net from Deven Jones-McDonald to secure the win for Indians. Isiah Anderson turned away 30 of 31 shots sent his way for the win in net.

Indians will return home next weekend to play Fox Motors in MAHA league action Saturday 5pm and Sunday 10am, both games are at the Taffy Abel Arena.
