Indians drop a pair to Biggby (Photos)

SAULT STE MARIE, MI — Biggby Coffee AAA Hockey traveled north to challege the Soo Indians in a pair of games at the Taffy Abel arena this past weekend and they seemed to be excited about the trip.

The puck dropped 5:00 pm on Saturday at the Taffy Abel for the first game in the series and the Indians came out completely flatfooted and watched the Biggby team blast five unanswered goals past goaltender Cam Labadie who took the loss. Not much else to say about this one.

Biggby came out strong again Sunday morning and scored the first two goals of the game in the first period before Kyle Stevens (Aedan Haapala, Jack Jimenez) finally got the tribe on the board. Biggby answered with another goal in the second to take a 3-1 lead after two. Gabe Fisher ripped a shot from the point on a power play late in the third on a pass from Jimenez. With time running low, the Soo pulled their goaltender for the extra attacker, but Biggby gained control of the puck and was able to find the empty net for the 4-2 victory. Justin Bamberger turned away 34 shots for the Indians.

The Indians will now go back on the road to Indianapolis, Indiana to play the Indy Jr Fuel and Lincoln Stars during the weekend.
