Community Surrounds Pickford Community Library in Support

The community of the EUP has gathered in support of the new building renovations for the Pickford Community Library, a Superior District Library.

Old Mission Bank generously presented the library with a $5,000 check in March. Karl’s Cuisine is sponsoring a large stromboli fundraiser that runs through May 5th (see details in flyer). Many local businesses, groups, and individuals in the Pickford and surrounding community have been very generous with their support, both financially and with volunteering their individual skills and time to help with the renovations.

“We are so thankful for the support that has been shown. I’m blown away by the generosity of this community,” says Emily Hyde, the manager of the Pickford Community Library, “We are so excited to move in and start serving the community: using the space for various programs, and offering people more resources.”

The Pickford Community Wellspring has supported the library with a grant to obtain a 3D printer cart and a Tech Tub to keep its iPads. Once in the new space, the library will be able to have these technologies available to the public. Summer Reading programs will begin at the Pickford Community Library June 14th.

“We hope to be in the new building by then,” says Ms. Hyde.

Pick up of orders is May 12 at various library locations (see www.pickfordlibrary.org for details; order form also available to print). Thank you! Anyone who orders stromboli through the fundraiser will be automatically entered into a raffle in which 3 lucky winners will get an extra stromboli for free. All profits are going towards the library renovations!
