William Charles Stephens, age 80, of Rudyard, Michigan, died on December 27, 2021, at his home. William was born on October 01, 1941, in Wyandotte, Michigan, to parents Morris Augusta and Cora Alma (Teeters) Stephens.
William grew up in Lincoln Park, Michigan, where he attended high school and worked at a local car wash, The E.J. Corvette Department Store. He raised his daughter, Donna, while working at the Peppina’s Restaurant as a dishwasher shortly before he started working at Earl Scheib Auto Bodyshop. He worked for the Ford Motor Company for several years before moving to the Upper Peninsula in 1980. William worked very hard to provide for his family; he worked at McDonalds in St. Ignace, Michigan, as a maintenance man before starting at a Strip Joint Shop refurbishing furniture and then going on to work maintenance at the Holiday Inn and Comfort Inn. He was a dedicated and hardworking man.
William enjoyed spending his free time feeding the birds around his home and tending to his vegetable garden. William enjoyed finding a good deal while thrift shopping and browsing yard sales. He loved going to car shows around the area also.
William is survived by his daughter, Donna Jean (John) Strong of Rudyard, Michigan; brother, Kenneth Stephens of St. Ignace and Glen (Brenda) Stephens of Plymouth, Wisconsin; as well as many nieces and nephews.
William is preceded in death by his parents, Morris and Cora Stephens; brother, Dale Stephens; sister, Janet Valot; and sister-in-law, Connie Stephens.
Memorial service is planned for a later date.
Final resting place will be at Carp River Cemetery.
