ESCANABA, MI – Yoopers can now receive their Amazon packages much quicker with two-day shipping becoming available as the first Upper Peninsula delivery station opens in Escanaba.
U.P. residents previously had to wait a week or more to receive their packages, the report said. This 50,000-square-foot facility is the company’s sixth in Michigan; others are in Traverse City, Gaylord, Saginaw, Clare and Bad Axe.
The Escanaba facility will employ about 100 people plus about 50 delivery drivers, the report said.
“For a region where distance is simply a fact of life, Amazon’s investment in Escanaba helps bring the final link in the supply chain closer to the people of the Upper Peninsula,” said state Sen. Ed McBroom, R-Waucedah. “I am grateful for the commitment they’ve made to connect our communities to critical products and services.”
