Mary Ann Spieles

Mary Ann Spieles, age 86, of Cedarville, Michigan, died December 21, 2021, at Cedar Cove Assisted Living. She was born September 15, 1935, in Detroit, Michigan, to Jacob and Mary Ann (Mellon) Spieles.

Mary grew up in St. Ignace, Michigan and attended Gros Cap Schools up until eighth grade. She then graduated from LaSalle High School in 1954. She later moved to Warren, Michigan, where she worked at Bell Telephone as an operator. She worked her way up the ladder in the company to Administrator. She would often spend her summers up in St. Ignace with her mother and later moved back to the area after she retired.

Mary was a faithful Catholic all her life. She was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church as well as Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church.

Mary was a lady of class. She enjoyed traveling and has been all over the Americas, Europe, Australia, and China. Scotland was one of her favorite places to visit. She would often coordinate family trips; everyone would know where and when they needed to be. Family was very important to her, and she adored all her nieces and nephews.

Mary is survived by her siblings, Peter (Sandi) Spieles of Hessel, Michigan, Thomas (Anne) Spieles of Traverse City, Michigan, and Angeline “Angie” O’Dowd (Robert Marshall), of St. Ignace; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
