Lawrence “Jack” Charles Belonga

Lawrence “Jack” Charles Belonga, age 65, of Saint Ignace, Michigan, died at McLaren Northern Michigan in Petoskey, Michigan, on January 3, 2022. He was born on February 18, 1956, in Saint Ignace, Michigan, Lawrence Ross and Charlotte “Peggy” Beatrice (Huyck) Belonga.

Jack grew up in Cedarville, Michigan where he attended Les Cheneaux High School. Afterwards, Jack married and began working as a self-employed construction and maintenance worker.

Jack was a very considerate and hardworking man, he supported, most if not all, the St. Jude’s charities.

Jack was also a humorist and fun man to spend time with. He loved to spend time teaching his kids and grandkids about everything he knew. He also loved hunting and spending time in the woods, especially if he was with family.

Jack is survived by his son, Lawrence Russell Belonga of Shepherd, Michigan; daughters, Nichole St. Andrew of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, Angela Belonga of Moran, Michigan, and Kristan Litzner of Moran, Michigan; grandchildren, Kurtis Belonga, Lily, Finnigan, Paige Hettel, Payton, Jared Mountain, Kylie Killiscrow, Kordell, Jameson, Jonathan, and Caleb; sisters, Cheryl LaVake of Saint Ignace, Michigan, Debbie Obeshaw of Saint Ignace, Michigan, Laurie (Bill) Schwiderson of Brimley, Michigan, Dorrine (Rex) Smith of Saint Ignace, Michigan, and Sylvia Belonga of Saint Ignace, Michigan; half brother, Donald Lofdahl; former spouse, Linda Belonga; and special friend, Mitzi Orr.

Jack is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Norrine Belonga and Beatrice (Peanut) Belonga; and infant son, Gerald Belonga.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, January 14, 2022, from 4 PM till 6 PM at the VFW in St. Ignace, MI.
